MUSSOORIE: On the evening of May 24, 1909, as the first electric bulb lit up in Mussoorie, the quiet hill station nestled in hills of Uttarakhand became one of the first towns in the country to get electricity. As British citizens assembled under a utility pole at Gandhi Chowk 111 years ago and sang their royal anthem ‘God Save the Queen’, the local residents were at once perplexed and in awe of the never-before-seen bright lights.
मसूरी: 24 मई, 1909 की शाम को, जैसे ही मसूरी में पहला बिजली का बल्ब जलाया गया, उत्तराखंड की पहाड़ियों में बसा शांत हिल स्टेशन बिजली पाने वाले देश के पहले शहरों में से एक बन गया। जब ब्रिटिश नागरिक 111 साल पहले गांधी चौक पर एक उपयोगिता पोल के नीचे इकट्ठे हुए और अपना शाही गान 'गॉड सेव द क्वीन' गाया, तो स्थानीय निवासी एक बार हैरान और पहले कभी न देखी गई चमकदार रोशनी से हैरान थे।
